Mission & Values
The mission of the FJP Lab is to do hypothesis-driven rigorous, reproducible, and innovative science in an environment that is supportive, respectful, and collegial. Rigor and robust experimental design and implementation is the norm. We also strive to work at the cutting edge of microbiology, helping to move the field forward by constantly building on a strong foundation of previous work. Science is a powerful tool that can allow us to make an impact in the society. As such, we also aim at publishing/communicating our work to specialized groups/journals but also to the broader community.
The FJP Lab supports and fights for diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). We are dedicated to speaking up for equity and standing against any type of discrimination to build an actively inclusive community at the Université de Sherbrooke (UdeS) and in the lab. We will not tolerate physical/verbal/psychological harassment or discrimination of any form in the group. As a lab, we are dedicated both to listening and learning, as well as actively fostering a culture that contributes to positive social change in our community to the best of our capabilities. We support our mission through scientific outreach to underrepresented groups, advocacy for persons of color (POC), first-gens in STEM, and a no-tolerance policy for racism or discrimination of any type.
